Jamie Andrew Kirsch is the new music director of the Cambridge Community Chorus. Kirsch completed the Doctor of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Indiana University in May 2008, where he studied conducting with Jan Harrington and John Poole. Kirsch also holds degrees from the Yale School of Music and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2007-08, Kirsch served as Interim Director of Choral Activities for the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. Recent performances at Vanderbilt included Brahms' Requiem, Terry Riley's Sun Rings with the Kronos Quartet, and Schoenberg's Friede auf Erden.
A native of New York, Kirsch moved to Somerville in May 2008 with his
wife Diana Lemly, a resident in Medicine and Pediatrics at the
Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition to conducting the CCC,
Kirsch teaches at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts.
